A Guide to Arizona’s Flourishing Wine Country

There are few vacations more fun, relaxing, educational, and delicious than a visit to wine country. But you don’t have to go to Italy, France, or even Napa for an incredible wine country visit – Arizona has a burgeoning and beautiful wine country with some truly incredible experiences to be enjoyed. When planning a trip to Scottsdale, a great day trip to Arizona wine country is just a short car ride (or if you really want a luxury experience – a private helicopter ride!) away.  Need help arranging transportation or vineyard tours? When you book with HolidayRental.com, our concierge can assist you with arranging any accommodations you might need.

Scottsdale is the perfect central hub for wine country excursions because it is located in between Arizona’s two main wine country locations. A short drive (1-2 hours) north or south will transport you to two unique but beautiful wine countries with some exciting and unique wine varietals exclusive to Arizona, as well as traditional varietals that are locally produced.  There is a vineyard and wine, as well as delicious food and fascinating tours, for everyone to enjoy.

Southern Arizona Wine Country

Arizona’s southern wine country is south of Tucson in the Sonoita, Elgin, and Willcox regions of Arizona. There are many vineyards to explore as well as tasting rooms and other unique experiences exclusive to the southern Arizona wine region.

Sonoita Vineyard was the first commercial vineyard in Arizona. The vineyard was established in the early 80s and today they still produce unique, small-batch, hand-bottled wine and they also host many events as well as vineyard tours and wine tastings.

Los Milics Vineyards is another notable vineyard worth a visit. Los Milics Vineyards produces delicious wine varietals that have been awarded various accolades over the years. Enjoy tastings and tours as well as various land art installations on the property.

Twisted Union Wine Co. is newer on the scene but has delicious wine tasting and you can even stay right on the property in one of their beautiful suites.

Callaghan Vineyards has been producing award-winning wine since 1990. Though they originally set out to focus on Bordeaux wine, they have since added many popular varietals and blends that even the most discerning wine critics enjoy!

Pillsbury Wine has garnered much favor among foodies, wine-lovers, and the Arizona restaurant scene with its unique and delicious wine. Their vineyard is located in Willcox but they also have a tasting room in Northern Arizona wine country.

Northern Arizona Wine Country

The Verde Valley of Arizona (about 1.5 hours north of Scottsdale) is home to many great wineries, cooler temperatures, and some gorgeous scenery.

Page Springs Cellars is one of the most well-known wineries in northern Arizona. They make great small-batch wine that you can enjoy in their tasting room or bistro and you can also take a guided tour of their beautiful vineyard and even see how the bottling process works up closes.

AZ Stronghold Vineyards is another popular Northern Arizona vineyard that you should visit if you get the chance. With a focus on representing the Arizona terrain, their wines will not disappoint!

Javelina Leap Cellars is a family-owned boutique winery that produces many great varietals as well as unique blends. Visit and tour the winery, sip and learn in the tasting room, and enjoy delicious food with your wine in the bistro!

Alcantara Vineyards is a scenic, family-owned vineyard and winery that produces over 17 different varietals. Take a tour and sip and savor in the wine tasting room or bistro for a great experience,
